# Cannot Connect After Update

## Cannot Connect After Update

Use this page when the client patches normally but cannot enter the game.

### Quick checks

1. Close the game client.
2. Run the patcher again.
3. Wait until the patcher fully completes.
4. Start the game from the same folder.

### What usually causes this

* Live maintenance or an emergency restart
* An unfinished patch
* An outdated or mixed client folder

### If it still does not connect

Check [Patch Notes](/rowiki/server-information/patch-notes.md) for these cases:

* Live maintenance
* Emergency restart
* New update deployment

{% hint style="info" %}
A connection issue right after an update is often caused by maintenance or an unfinished patch.
{% endhint %}

### If the problem continues

1. Re-download the newest full client.
2. Extract it into a clean folder.
3. Run the patcher again.
4. Try to log in after maintenance ends.

### Best practice

* Always patch before logging in
* Use one dedicated client folder
* Avoid launching the game while the patcher is still working

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://lokagamers.gitbook.io/rowiki/guide/installation-guide/cannot-connect-after-update.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
